Celebrate Queer Vancouver kicks off on July 21st followed by two queer history walks on July 23rd.
Celebrate Queer Vancouver is a month-long multifaceted celebration showcasing film, visual art, community dialogue and – at the centre of it all – a public art installation to engage and celebrate the dynamic experiences and achievements of Vancouver’s queer communities. Celebrate Queer Vancouver culminates with the 23rd Annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival.
The Celebration will kick off July 21 at the Roundhouse Community Centre with an evening of film, performance, tasty treats and both silent and live auctions. Tickets for the launch event are $20 and are available online.
Two days later, on July 23rd, Celebrate Queer Vancouver hosts two guided queer history walks which will explore historical queer sites in Vancouver.
First up is A Wok Around Chinatown with Bob Sung from 10am to 2:30pm and includes admission to the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden and a dim sum lunch. Tickets for this inaugural tour are $90 with $3 from every admission being donated to the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. Visit http://queerfilmfestival.ca for more information.
The second history walk takes place the same day at 2pm with Check Out Our Other END! Historic Strathcona with James Johnstone. Tickets for this tour are $20 and can be purchased online.
