Spend 69 seconds with … Darren Burkett

Spend 69 seconds with Vancouver-based actor Darren Burkett who is currently co-starring in The Boys Upstairs Equity Co-op production of Glory Days.

01Your first job.
My first official job was as a dance teacher’s assistant. That and I worked at Quiznos. Super classy…

02The job you wanted as a child.
I’ve always wanted to be an actor. When I forced all of my friends to do plays in my basement, my parents thought that it might be the career for me!

03Your pet peeve.
People chewing with their mouths open. I don’t need to hear it…

04Your hero.
Artistically, Gene Kelly (that man can do no wrong in my eyes). Personally, my family as a whole.

05Finish this sentence: I first kissed a boy…
… in the back seat of my parents white Ford Taurus (which was named Betty White) in a parking lot in English Bay. Romantic, right?

06Your biggest indulgence.
I think it would be safe to say anything chocolate. Anything! I’m not even remotely picky!

07Your last meal would consist of?
My mom’s roast beef dinner (including mashed potatoes, yorkshires, veggies and all the gravy you can shake a stick at).

08Three things you would want with you on a deserted island.
My MacBook (we live in a digital world, I’m sure this island is wired), I’d bring seeds to plant my own garden and don’t forget mouthwash, you never know who you’ll meet on a deserted island.

09 If you could have dinner with anyone throughout time who would it be?
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Bob Fosse… I’d die!

10 The one thing any visitor to Vancouver simply cannot miss.
I would have to say head up to Grouse Mountain in the winter and have a walk around (or if you’re truly adventurous, go snowboarding or skiing. The Cut has the most beautiful views of Vancouver on a clear day!)
