Spend 69 seconds with … Yves Jacques

Spend 69 seconds with actor Yves Jacques who appears in Robert Lepage’s Far Side of the Moon at SFU Woodwards in November.

01Your first job.

Cashier in a drugstore … I resigned after 3 days having bad dreams about giving the exact change!

02The job you wanted as a child.

I know it’s going to sound tacky but here it is: being an actor.

03Your pet peeve.

What is it? Is it a surname? If it is, mine was “It le pit” (French).

04Your hero.

James Dean.  I wanted to look like him and was surprised not to die at 24 just like him! Since then I’m trying to be my own hero! Obviously, since I made my coming out on TV in 1997! I am very proud about that!

05Finish this sentence: I first kissed a boy…

I was actually with a girl friend at a party and we suddenly started kissing this beautifull and charming lad … It was easier for me because it looked like an experience more than the real thing, which I wasn’t ready to assume at that time! But the real first kiss happened on the evening of the first Referendum in Quebec City, kissing a English Canadian…!

06Your biggest indulgence.

Liberty! But be careful… On stage for example, it means doing all that you have to do to reach that goal… learning your lines, where you go, work! Liberty is not an easy task! Culture, education, learning who you are, where you live, what you need! Fun has to be part of it…

07The one word your best friend would use to describe you.

Human.

08Three things you would want with you on a deserted island.

I am a deserted island! That is why I can travel the world … I am my own house in my mind in a way! You don’t need that much. People should see themselves more like a nomad than a sedentary! Anyway, being on tour you don’t have the choice! So first I would use my imagination, second my memory and third lots of hope! The rest is only material…

09 One thing no one knows about you.

Even if I look debonair, I would really enjoy being with someone!

10 Your last meal would consist of…

God, you got these sad questions…! Deserted island, last meal!… How could you know it’s gonna be your last? So that means that I would have been condammed for a death penalty? But that doesn’t exist in Canada anymore… So what can I say! Anyway, I would better make love than anything else before dying… with a little twist of Maple Syrup! 😉
