Local director nominated for Leo award for queer television show

Vancouver resident Nicky Forsman, director of the Vancouver shot OUTtv’s Don’t Quit Your Gay Job, has been nominated for a Best Direction Leo award in the Information or Lifestyle Series category for her work on the equestrian episode from season one.

Don't Quit Your Gay JobDon’t Quit Your Gay Job showcases the personal successes and humiliating disappointments of two friends, Rob Easton and Sean Horlor, as they strive to find themselves and new perspectives while learning about gay life on the job. The nominated episode follows the hosts to the Fraser Valley to learn whether they can ride a horse or should stick to saving cowboys.

Forsman’s first Leo nomination, she was both shocked and delighted about the nomination.

“Despite having my name on it, this nomination belongs to everyone involved with the show. It is a testament to our hosts Rob Easton and Sean Horlor, and to the amazing group of people working behind the scenes both on set, and every day at our company,” she said.

The Leo Awards, given out each May by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of British Columbia, honour the best in British Columbian television and film production. The 2010 award winners will be announced at events on June 4th and 5th.

Don’t Quit Your Gay Job airs on Mondays at 10:30pm and Saturdays at 8:30pm on OUTtv. Check your local listings.
