It’s
time to whip out your fishnets, and stroll on over to South Granville. This
summer, Another Musical Co-op presents the sizzling musical revue
The World Goes ‘Round, brought to you by the writers of Chicago, John
Kander and Fred Ebb. The vast range of human experience is explored in song
after impeccable song by one of Broadway’s most daring and successful teams and
masters of the heart-grabbing Broadway showstopper.
Along with ‘All That Jazz’, it features songs from Cabaret, New York, New York,
as well as lesser known gems from shows like The Rink and Liza Minelli’s The
Act. Filled with humour and drama, the show explores the state of the world
today and the human condition through insightful lyrics and soaring melodies,
all put together into jazzy, modern arrangements.
Featuring the directing talents of Shane Snow, musical direction by Gordon
Roberts, and choreography by Snow and Melissa Young,
The World Goes ‘Round is sure to bring some heat. Along for the ride is
a handful of Vancouver’s finest: Jeremy Crittenden, Sarah Gay, Tim Gledhill,
Alison MacDonald, and Jennifer Neumann.
Another Musical Co-op is an Equity Co-operative arts organization including
local performing artists. The idea to put on the show was formed when Alison,
Jennifer and Sarah were performing together in the Jessie award-winning
production of Seussical the Musical this past Christmas. Chatting in the
dressing room, they decided they wanted the opportunity to create their own work
together and chose
The World Goes ‘Round as the vehicle for their dream. The World Goes
‘Round is a fun, sexy, and sometimes poignant look at all that goes on in your
own little world, and all that goes on in the big one that includes us all.
The World Goes ‘Round will be presented at Pacific Theatre, located at
1440 W 12th Ave. The show runs August 20-23 and 25-30 at 8 pm, with matinees
August 23 and 30 at 2 pm.
