The silver screens around Vancouver are about to turn bright pink as the 2016 Vancouver Queer Film Festival takes place August 11-21.
GayVancouver.Net and the Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) wants to send you to the movies with a six-pack of tickets to any of the screenings at this year’s festival (subject to availability). Use them to see six movies on your own, or take your favourite person to see three. The choice is yours. Speaking of choices, with more than 68 films to choose from this year, the toughest part of winning will be in deciding what you want to see. To enter, scroll down and complete the online form.
Highlights at this year’s festival include award-winning filmmaker Ingrid Jungermann from New York City and her critically acclaimed film Women Who Kill, along with local filmmaker Joella Cabalu and her breakout feature It Runs in the Family.
The Festival will also host VMA-nominated performer/choreographer Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza and Kevin Stea, both of whom accompanied Madonna on her “Blond Ambition World Tour”, which was the genesis of both the movie Madonna: Truth or Dare and the music video for the chart-topping single “Vogue”. They’ll be at the VQFF’s Centrepiece Gala, Strike a Pose, a documentary about them and the other five young dancers who reveal the truth about life during and after the tour.
Festival guides are now available at festival venues as well as Little Sister’s Book & Art Emporium and Black Dog Video. The complete festival lineup can also be viewed online at http://queerfilmfestival.ca
