This is a local
hangout with an emphasis on breakfast and lunch. If you can't find an egg dish
that suits you, then you must not like eggs because they really have pretty much
covered it.
Omelettes were
hot and nicely stuffed, and you had your choice of a number of breads for toast.
Depending on how you like your omelettes prepared will dictate whether you like
Elbow's preparation method. They cook the eggs so that they are done on both
sides and then slide the fillings in much like you would when you have a
quesadilla – which are also on the menu. My companions both liked this method
however they wished the cream cheese that was included was spread throughout the
toppings rather than a scoop centred in the middle.
One companion
asked for one of the ingredients to be omitted however it was included – and he
simply took it out himself.
I had the steak
burrito which was good, nicely filled with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions.
Hash browns come down to your definition of how you like them prepared. Should
the potatoes be grated, diced or sliced? My companions all agreed they were
rather plain cubes that were slightly burnt on one side and rather pale on the
other. In my opinion, hash browns should be crispy and golden brown so these
were really not what I was expecting.
The Elbow Room
has a wide selection of egg benny's, pancakes, sandwiches and burgers. The
expectation is that you come here to be abused. You get your own water; you
refill your own coffee.
The menu clearly
states no substitutions so if you're like Sally from "When Harry Met Sally" you
will not get everything on the side or to your meticulous specifications. This
is not Burger King, where you can have it your way.
Abuse? Harmless
banter in reality. Attitude? Most definitely.
