TUESDAY, 21 August: Lesbian Landmarks
We’ve always heard about Vancouver’s Commercial Drive as having a large lesbian community. Join Jolene Cumming and Pat Hogan as they set out to prove it with a walking tour that will give you a herstory of the lesbian community on Commercial from the 70s to the 90s. WEDNESDAY, 22 August: Friends of Dorothy Film Series

THURSDAY, 23 August: Mojo
Vancouver’s masters of the site-specific theatre genre transform the Russian Hall into the Atlantic club of 1950′s Soho for Mojo, the story of the small-time hoods that run it. When the boss is found in two pieces in the alley and the club’s star attraction goes missing, they can’t decide whether to fight or flee. FRIDAY, 24 August: TOBY
Australian singer-songwriter Toby returns to Canada for her 11th tour with her new CD Coming Home. Recorded over two nights in Perth, the live album features a mix of songs from the past ten years. 8pm tonight at Cafe Du Soleil, 1393 Commercial Drive. Tickets are $8. SATURDAY, 25 August: Fringe Mash-up – What’s My Line
What if comedians had to do a drama? A solo artist had to do a multi-person scene? Singers didn’t know the song? Find out at a special fundraiser for The Laughter Mission Society, a Vancouver group whose goal is to improve the quality of life for those with life-limiting illness through laughter. Featuring the casts of a number of productions from this year’s Vancouver International Fringe Festival this is one show that will definitely tickle your funny bone. SUNDAY, 26 August: Oliver Fannie
Part theatre company, part burlesque, Vancouver’s Screaming Chicken presents a light hearted look at sexuality, repression and prostitution in this round-the-world musical escapade. Forced to flee the city, Fannie stows away aboard a ship and begins an erotic and comedic journey that will take her around the world discovering the seedy sides of Bangkok, Constantinople and Paris before a shocking return home.
