WEDNESDAY, 10 April: Hip ARt
1181 hosts its weekly Hip Art: One Night, One Artist, One Wall, this week showcasing the work of recent Emily Carr graduate Marina Nazarova. Strolling the streets of Vancouver and taking pictures of strangers has become important parts of Marina’s creative process with these images being translated into large paintings. THURSDAY, 11 April: The Ballad Of Genesis And Lady Jaye
Pacific Cinematheque presents film festival circuit darling The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, an intimate look at the unusual love affair between Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and Jacqueline “Lady Jaye” Beyer. Marie Losier’s provocative, intimate, and highly affecting documentary follows the two as they embarked on a body-modification project they called Pandrogeny, undergoing plastic surgeries (including his-and-her breast implants) to more closely resemble one another and merge into a single unified entity. FRIDAY, 12 April: VSO: Let’s Dance
Can’t get enough of those reality dance competitions? The VSO presents a very special Pops concert created by Jeff Tyzik and Carla Heiney, 2010 National Jitterbug Champ and choreographer for the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance. Heiney and other top professional dancers will dance Swing, Waltz, Latin, Ballroom and Tap to the lush, full sounds of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. SUNDAY, 14 April: The Bomb-Itty of Errors
