A queer take on burlesque

What exactly is queerlesque?   That is the question a group of performers hope to answer at Heaven’s Door in Vancouver’s West End on March 21, 2014.

“Although the more obvious answer is that it is a queer take on burlesque, the upcoming event aims to expand on that definition by exposing the audience to different artistic styles within this unique genre,” says Teresa Marie South, President and Talent Manager of Bonerattle Talent, the organizers of the event.

The evening will offer a range of entertainment including performances, traditional style burlesque, queerlesque solos and duets that promise to challenge gender stereotypes and extra special boylesque after midnight.

In between sets, guests will be entertained by go-go dancers, win door prizes, purchase goodies from local vendors and partake in a free fantasy photo booth.  Music will be provided by DJ Evilyn13, known for her work at Sin City Fetish Nights and Kitty Nights Burlesque.

100% of the proceeds from the evenings coat check will benefit A Loving Spoonful.

A Queer Cabaret takes place at Heaven’s Door on Friday, March 21, 2014.  Visit the group’s Facebook event page for more information.
