Our (gay) guide to Halloween 2012

Considered one of the high holy days on the gay calendar, Halloween rarely disappoints with a great selection of spooktacular events in 2012 (both gay and not so gay) in and around Vancouver.

Our gay guide to Halloween 2012The Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train is back once again for 2012 with Scary Fairy Tales, a fun-for-all-ages tradition that runs through October 31st.  Don’t wait though as this one has a tendency to sell out closer to the big night.

Playland at the PNE transforms into Fright Nights featuring six fright houses, including the new house FEAR, thirteen rides, The Monsters of Schlock and their horrifying comedy act plus other terrifying shows and attractions.

Public Dreams’ annual Secret Souls Walk takes place on October 27 followed by the Parade of Lost Souls Dance Party.

Forbidden Vancouver presents The Lost Souls of Gastown, a guided walking tour recounting the true story of Vancouver’s first resident, Gassy Jack Deighton, and other stories of our city’s early history.

Vancouver’s theatre community is celebrating the season too as Upintheair Theatre presents A Tomb With A View at Studio 1398 on Granville Island and Fighting Chance Productions presents Little Shop of Horrors at the Jericho Arts Centre.  Audiences get up-close-and-personal with zombies as The Virtual Stage presents The Zombie Syndrome and ITSAZOO takes over Roedde House in the West End for Debts, a blend of site-specific theatre, haunted house and radio play.

Haunted houses abound this Halloween season including the Dunbar Haunted House and Zombie High School in East Vancouver.

Vancouver’s gay party scene gives you plenty of choices! Here are a selection of the Halloween parties happening around the city both in the local bars and elsewhere.
