This week in (gay) Vancouver: AIDS Memorial, United & Flicker

This week we remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS, wrap up the long weekend with a party, and take in an innovative new dance piece from the Dancers of Damelahamid.

AIDS Vancouver Candlelight Memorial 2016

AIDS Vancouver hosts the 2016 Vancouver International AIDS Candlelight Memorial (May 22). This year’s theme is “Engage, Educate, Empower” as health, faith and community-based organizations around the world will draw on the event to remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS, to support those living with HIV/ AIDS and to honour those affected by its impact. The gathering hopes to spur renewed calls to greater action from all of us to be agents in the current response to the ongoing epidemic.

Big Roger Events presents DJ Phil B

Big Roger Events knows how to wrap-up a long weekend as they present their annual Memorial Day Weekend after hours party, United (May 23). This year features San Francisco’s DJ Phil B with opening by DJ Quest.

From the Dancers of Damelahamid comes Flicker (May 25), an innovative dance piece that combines west coast design with a unique scenographic hybrid of projected environments and live-action shadow dance.
