Music, recognition and a trip to the trailer park are all on tap as we present our picks for the coming week in (gay) Vancouver.
Always a sell-out, tickets for the Vancouver Men’s Chorus concert #1 Hits goes on sale (May 1). Rarely do we provide advance notice of ticket sales in our weekly round-up, but if you’re serious about getting tickets you will definitely want to take note. The concert may not be until June but you’ll definitely thank us for the heads-up. You’re welcome.
The Vancouver Pride Society honours the movers and the shakers in Vancouver’s LGBTQ community with the second annual Legacy Awards (May 4) with eight awards to be handed out in various categories from sports to youth. Find out about this years nominees now.
The “best piece of best piece of theatre so far in 2014″ (Mark Robins, Vancouver Presents), Killer Joe (through May 4) is also the best time you are ever going to have in a trailer park. Take a trip outside your comfort zone and head on out to the Italian Cultural Centre parking lot for an up-close-and-personal visit with the Smith family.
Plus a couple of other events we’re excited about this week:
- Spiked (May 3) – the Vancouver Gay Volleyball Association brings back its signature event to Celebrities complete with the Mr Spiked pageant.
- Spring Awakening (Apr 30-May 15) – Fighting Chance Productions presents this story of a group of young students rebelling against authority and discovering their sexuality.
