This week in (gay) Vancouver: it’s all about Canada, eh!

Time to put on the red and white as we celebrate Canada's birthday. Happy Canada Day!

This week in (gay) Vancouver we celebrate our country’s birthday with a party, some fireworks and a festival of Canadian dance artists.

Okay, so technically Hershe Bar (Jul 1) has nothing to do with Canada Day, but what better way to be the first to wish our country a very happy birthday than surrounded by hundreds of your closest lesbian friends. Resident DJ Miss M is joined by twin-DJ team Armistice with enough energy to get us through Canada’s next 148 years.

We’re turning 148 this year and we’re gushing with pride! Its time once again to break out the red and white to show our true patriot love with glowing hearts, eh!. Of course, no Canada Day celebration would be complete without some fireworks and this year the place to be once again is at Canada Place (July 1).

Happy Birthday, Canada!

Celebrate Canada’s rich arts community at this year’s Dancing on the Edge Festival (Jul 2-11). Pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance, this year’s festival features 32 new works by over seventy dance artists from across Canada.
