With the Vancouver Pride season just over two months away, the Vancouver Pride Society announced earlier this month that its theme for 2016 is “Better Together”.
“For many members of the LGTBQ2+ community, isolation is a very real issue. Without family support or a network of friends, life can feel extremely difficult,” say organizers. “When we stand together, support each other and believe in one another, it makes everyone stronger. Through a human rights lens, when we band together, we have the power to affect positive social change and carve out space for each of us to celebrate who we are. It’s definitely .., better together.”
The 38th annual Vancouver Pride Parade, the culmination of a week-long celebration, will take place this year on Sunday, July 31. One of Vancouver’s flagship events, having received civic status in 2013, the annual parade winds its way through the streets of the West End beginning at noon.
