Honouring a legacy: Vancouver Pride honours community members

The Vancouver Pride Society honoured eight members of Vancouver’s LGBTQ community at its second annual Pride Legacy Awards last night.

Honouring “the legacy of activism and volunteerism that has shaped Vancouver’s LGBTQ community” the eight awards, each representing one colour in the original rainbow flag, were handed out at the gala event at the Roundhouse Community Centre on May 4.

Youth – Andrew Shopland
Arts – Dave Deveau
Sports – Dean Nelson
Sexual Health – Martin Rooney
Volunteer – Carl Weathers
Life-time Achievement – Ron Dutton
Safe Spaces – Alex Sangha
Community Leader – Chris Morrisey
