Your guide to Vancouver Pride 2016

Vancouver Pride 2016 is upon us.The biggest and gayest event on Vancouver’s social calendar each year, this year’s Pride festivities officially gets underway on July 24 and culminates with the Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival on July 31.  Here are all of the events you don’t want to miss.

Sunday, July 24

Pride in kicks off as Vancouver Frontrunners hosts its annual Pride Run & Walk. The 5.5 kilometre run/walk begins and sends at Sunset Beach.

The Dogwood Monarchist Society hosts their annual DMS Pride BBQ at The Junction with Empress XLV Sienna Blaze and DJ Mike Bermudez.

Monday, July 25

The annual City of Vancouver Pride Proclamation from City Hall comes to the Davie Village this year at Jim Deva Plaza.

Country western dancing is back as Timberline hosts a Pride Dance at The Pumpjack.

Tuesday, July 26

Celebrities Nightclub kicks of #ThisIsPrideXO a Pride Kick-off Party with DJs Darylo, Grayson Repp and JP Valdes.

Peach Cobblah & Isolde N. Barron host a Pride edition of Shame Spiral at 1181 on Davie Street.

Wednesday, July 27

#ThisIsPrideXO continues at Celebrities with Bingo For Life: Pride Edition with special guest drag performances all hosted by Carlotta Gurl, Mina Mercury and friends. Proceeds benefit Vancouver Friends for Life Society. The evening continues with Pride Cabaret featuring Las Vegas style productions of icons such as Cher, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, Bette Midler and many more.

Isolde N. Barron and Carlotta Gurl host the Barron Gurl Pride Show at The Junction.

The Astoria is host to the Ultraqueer! Summer Bash, a dance party for queer folks + queer allies.

Thursday, July 28

The Vancouver Men’s Chorus returns with its perennial Pride sell-out, The Big Gay Sing VI at the Revue Stage on Granville Island.

Jane Smokr, Valynne Vile, Lady Gem, Gia Metric and Shada Leer present Bratpack Pride Rave at The Junction.

The Pride week festivities get started at The Pumpjack with an Underwear Party.

Vancouver Art and Leisure kick-off Alternate Pride Festival.

DJ Pornstar continues #ThisIsPrideXO at Celebrities complete with an Andrew Christian & Dirt Squirrel Underwear Fashion Show.

Friday, July 29

The Davie Street Party is back as Pride takes over the streets of the Davie Village from Burrard to Jervis Streets. Along with an expanded beer garden, the evening festivities include a community stage at the rainbow crosswalk at Davie & Bute.

The annual Vancouver Trans March takes to the streets of East Vancouver.

Flygirl presents its annual Chicks Ahoy! Women’s Pride Cruise aboard the Magic Charm.

Vancouver Art and Leisure’s Alternate Pride Festival continues.

The Flygirl party continues with Pride Wild Fruit LGBTQ Dance Party at the Playhouse Nightclub.

XYYVR kicks off its own Pride weekend celebrations with XY Pride Friday with Jane Smokr and DJs Domtop and Jef Leppard

The Junction Pride Weekend gets underway with Funktion Pride – Blacklight Edition featuring DJ Mike Bermudez.

The Pumpjack hosts Wet & Wild featuring DJ Del Stamp with strippers in the shower.

The 5th Annual RUFFpride Party returns featuring four DJs in three rooms and two dance floors.

Queer as Funk helps kick off Vancouver Pride as they play the Commodore Ballroom with its repertoire ranging from beloved funk, soul and Motown classics to contemporary favourites.

Big Pride Weekend kicks off with Bootcamp in the old FiveSixty space featuring a performance by XXX Star Christian Power and music from Eddie Martinez and DJ Landon James.

Saturday, July 30

Who doesn’t love pancakes? Another Pride Week tradition, the Vancouver Pride Society honours one of the founders of Pride in Vancouver with the Terry Wallace Memorial Breakfast at the soon to be opened Jim Deva Plaza.

The Vancouver Dyke March and Festival is back for its 13th edition marching from East Vancouver’s McSpadden Park along Commercial Drive to the festival grounds at Grandview Park.

Rapture: Heatwave returns for an afternoon of fun at the Westin hotel pool with DJs Nick Bertossi and Quest.

Celebrities Nightclub is host to DJ Green Velvet with support from G-Luve and Jay Douglas.

The bears are back in town as Berracuda Pride takes over the Red Room Ultra Bar.

XYYVR Pride continues with YX Pride Saturday with a drag show and DJ Kitty Glitter.

Over at The Junction it is Absolut Pride with Carlotta Gurl, followed by dancing with Mike Bermudez.

Vancouver Art and Leisure’s Alternate Pride Festival continues.

The Pumpjack hosts the leather and fetish Black Pride with DJ Quest and go-go dancers.

Tomboy Pride presents an East Van Pride Party + Queer Burlesque Showcase at The Astoria for a night of uncensored debauchery.

Big Pride Weekend continues with Sin, an after hours party featuring DJ Luis Perez (NYC) .

The Big Pride Weekend main event, Glitter, takes place tonight featuring Yinon Yahel (Tel Aviv) and an opening set from Vancouver’s DJ Del Stamp.

Sunday, July 31

The big day is Sunday, July 31 as thousands gather in Vancouver’s West End to celebrate along the route of 38th annual Vancouver Pride Parade beginning at Noon.

The day continues at Sunset Beach with the Sunset Beach Festival with an always exciting line-up of performers, and a great mix of booths offering up a diverse range of a products, services, and community organizations.

The Junction hosts a Pride T-Dance with DJ Robyn Graves spinning all kinds of gay anthems all afternoon long. DJs  Mike Bermudez & Drew take over in the evening for a Pride Dance Party.

Unitoxicated, a drug and alcohol free Pride event, takes over Davie Street at Bute with Courtney Act from Rupaul’s Drag Race as this year’s headlining act.

The Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society presents Two-Spirit Pride.

DJs Matt Effect and Tommy K spin the tunes at Bawdyhaus Pride.

XYYVR hosts Ice-T Pride Patio Party with DJs G-Luve, Almond Brown and Charles Guilterre.

Vancouver Art and Leisure’s Alternate Pride Festival continues.

Celebrities presents History Sunday as part of its #ThisIsPrideXO celebrations with a 13 hour marathon party including a “best butt” contest hosted by Iona Whip.

CruiseyT presents its annual Go Go Pride Cruise aboard the Harbour Princess and Pride Party Cruise on the MV Britannia.

Flygirl Productions presents Chicas in the Afternoon featuring Taryn Manning and four other DJs set in the garden at the Sheraton Wall Centre.

The 16th annual Sunday afternoon post parade T-dance tradition, Trouble, returns with Vancouver DJ Quest.

The biggest Hershe Bar party is happening at Pride this year featuring Riki Rocket, Miss M, Kasey Riot and Armistice.

Monday; August 1

The Junction is your Pride Recovery headquarters with trivia in the afternoon and DJ Del Stamp kicking in at night.

The Pumpjack is also hosting a Recovery Pride party.

Big Pride Weekend presents another afterhours party with United: Pride featuring headliner Isaac Escalante (Mexico).

CruiseyT helps you get over Pride with its annual Pride Recovery Cruise aboard the MV Britannia.
