Spend 69 seconds with award-winning singer, actor, dancer, performance artist, activist, and writer Ryan G. Hinds, who is in Vancouver to perform at the Vancouver Pride Sunset Beach Festival on July 31, 2011.
01Your first job.
I delivered the local newspaper, and would sing along with whatever musical was playing on my walkman. All my neighbours got a paper and a song!
02The job you wanted as a child.
Working with animals! To this day, I support things like elephant rehabilitation and feline care. If I was ever to walk away from performing, I’d be happiest doing that.
03One word your best friend would use to describe you.
Gossipy….and he’d be right!
Sylvester, the singer best known for (You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real. He never compromised himself with life in the closet, lived a fabulous life with a spectacular career, and had an impressive 3-octave vocal range singing jazz, r n b, soul, disco, pop, and rock with a unique style.
05Your biggest indulgence.
I love glitter. I love throwing it in the air, wearing it as makeup or in my hair, leaving glitter kisses on new people I meet, and being as glittery as I can be.
06Complete this sentence: I first kissed a boy …
… while the Priscilla Queen of the Desert soundtrack was playing.
07Your last meal would consist of….
Iced tea, caesar salad, sushi, chocolate cake.
08The three things you would want with you on a deserted island.
Music, food, and a hot lifeguard!
09The two people you would most like to have dinner with.
Grace Jones and Emanuel Sandhu. Between the three of us, the diva-dom would be off the charts!
10One thing no one knows about you.
I love libraries. Every new city I’m in, I check out the main branch of their public library. You can learn quickly about what the people are like and meet cute guys (or girls) with brains. If you carry a library card, you’re 10 times sexier in my eyes!
