Offering Vancouver’s only same-sex ballroom classes and dances since 1995, Not So Strictly Ballroom aims to create a community of social dancers in the gay and lesbian community.
Not So Strictly Ballroom offers a number of dance class sessions on Tuesday evenings and Saturday nights throughout the year in both East Vancouver and the West End. The type of dances taught varies from session to session with everything from the Argentine Tango to the East Coast Swing being taught. Classes range in difficulty from beginner through to advanced offering something for every dancer’s skill level. A partner is not required.
In addition to classes, Not So Strictly Ballroom hosts dances on the third Saturday of every month from September through June, each with a different theme.
The group also has a demo team which is available to dance at community events. Dancers from Not So Strictly Ballroom have also competed at the Gay Games in both Amsterdam and Sydney.
