A support group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and intersex South Asians and their friends, Sher Vancouver, which recently celebrated its second anniversary, offers a variety of both social and support services.
Among the services offered by Sher Vancouver include peer support, social activities, information, referral and outreach presentations.
As part of their mandate, the group launched its DOSTI (meaning friendship in many South Asian languages) project which undertakes free presentations to high schools, colleges, universities and the community throughout Greater Vancouver area.
But while the group definitely has a South Asian focus, Sher Vancouver welcomes anyone, regardless of ethnicity or sexuality.
