The West End Slo-Pitch Association (WESA) opens its 32nd season as the boys (and girls) of summer prepare for their 2010 season.
Started in 1978 the Association celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1998, making it the oldest gay and lesbian sports organization in Vancouver. In 2004 WESA created two divisions to allow for both a competitive game play (C Division) and recreational play (D Division). In 2009 a total of 13 teams played in the two divisions.
In 2010, two teams will represent Vancouver at the Gay Softball World Series that will take place in Columbus, Ohio in August.
In addition to their softball season, WESA also organizes a number of social events throughout the season including the very popular Miss WESA Pageant which takes place on June 13th this year at Celebrities.
