Celebrities celebrates fifth birthday of its relaunch

It’s hard to believe that five years have already passed since the re-launch of Celebrities, a Vancouver institution in the gay community.  With the closure of the nightclub in 1999 after being condemned, this iconic dance club for Vancouver’s gay and lesbian community actually has its roots as a nightclub back to 1910.  It was in the early 80s though before it became a gay nightclub.

Saturday July 11th will mark the fifth year of its re-opening and is celebrating with “The Superheroes & Villains Party” featuring five DJs – one for every year since it re-opened.

Featured that night will be The Threesome (Dan James, Ryan Bazeley & Zach Shore) to warm up the night and The Perry Twins from LA.

The Perry Twins have completed remixes for Kristine W and recently released a new dance single with Niki Harris called “Bad Bad Boy”. “Bad Bad Boy” is the follow up to their debut single “Activate My Body” featuring Jania which went to number one on several charts including Cashbox Magazine, Logo and Perfect Beat. “Activate my Body” was in the top ten of Billboard Chart’s Hot Club Play Chart for a month and a half and spent over two weeks at number three. The twins have been DJing professionally since the late 90s and have spun throughout the US.

With its superhero and villain theme there is no cover for those in costume (think Superman or perhaps The Joker) and party-goers are encouraged to wear blue if they be good or wear red if they be bad.

The night will also consist of circus performances, Go Go Boys, and the full red carpet treatment.
