Out On Bay Street, Canada’s professional organization for LGBTQA students and recent graduates, is launching the first national scholarship program for Canadian post-secondary students.
Recognizing the academic achievements and community leadership of LGBTQA students from across Canada, students from all areas of the country are encouraged to apply for the two awards valued at $2,500.00 each.
Students enrolled in post-secondary education and accredited degree programs are encouraged to submit their applications online before July 31, 2013.
The selection committee will award the scholarships based on demonstrated leadership in the LGBTQA community, as well as, personal and academic success. The winners will be announced on September 21, 2013 in Toronto.
“Out On Bay’s mission is to facilitate the professional development of LGBTQA students,” says Liz McLachlin, member of Out On Bay Street’s Board of Advisors. “With ever-increasing tuition fees, Out On Bay Street’s scholarship will help defray some costs, creating even more opportunities for LGBTQA Canadians to succeed.”
Out On Bay Street is Canada’s leading professional networking organization for LGBTQA students and recent graduates. Founded in 2007 by students at the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto) and Schulich School of Business (York University), the nonprofit organization boasts thousands of members across Canada.
