With the popularity of The Amazing Race and its smaller northern cousin The Amazing Race Canada, it comes as no surprise to see the format being borrowed by A Loving Spoonful for their upcoming fundraiser.
On September 8, 2013 A Loving Spoonful’s The Awesome Race will pit up to 75 teams against each other as they battle it out on the streets of Vancouver, taking part in challenges and deciphering clues to find their next pit stop. As much a mental as a physical challenge, organizers say racers will need street smarts, patience, energy and the driving force to win, but add that even if you’re in decent shape you won’t have any problem completing the race (just ask Jonny Staub).
“The Awesome Race is truly different from any other fundraiser A Loving Spoonful currently produces,” says Lisa Martella, Executive Director for A Loving Spoonful. “We have a creative team who couldn’t wait to have racers compete in tasks that will be challenging, fun and anything but ordinary. It is an event that brings the community together and inspires teams to work collectively for the common goal of raising funds to help those affected by HIV/AIDS.
