As part of the We Demand: History/Sex/Activism In Canada conference this weekend, participants will let loose in night of queer fun with the We Demand Queer Cabaret on Saturday, August 27.

We Demand Queer CabaretCommemorating the 40th anniversary of the first national gay liberation action in Ottawa and Vancouver, We Demand will bring together some 140 participants in a three-day gathering to explore the legacy of Canada’s history of sex activism, as well as a retrospective of queer Canadian cinema.

On the Saturday evening, the conference gets a little wild with performances from some of Vancouver’s best queer performers.  Hosted by filmmaker, author and performer Michael V Smith, the evening will feature performance artist Amber Dawn, singer Jill Richards plus performances from singer/songwriter Kate Reid, comedian David C. Jones, improv comedy from The Bobbers, and Latin dancers Naomi Kolinsky & Karen Lim.
