One of the world’s most authentic ABBA tribute groups, Arrival From Sweden, makes its Canadian debut with the VSO and Assistant Conductor Pierre Simard at 8pm on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at the Orpheum.
Founded in 1995 by Victoria Norback, who performs the part of Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad, Arrival From Sweden has become one of the world’s most popular and best selling ABBA tributes. The only tribute show with the approval of original ABBA members, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, Arrival seeks to stay authentic. They also have exclusive rights to use replicas of ABBA’s original costumes and to record and perform the unreleased track “Just a Notion”.
Over the years, Arrival from Sweden has included many original ABBA musicians in their shows. The Vancouver show will include original ABBA musician Mike Watson playing bass. Watson played on original ABBA tracks such as “SOS”, “Mamma Mia”, “If It Wasn’t For the Nights”, “The Winner Takes It All”, and “Super Trouper”.
As the largest touring ABBA tribute band in the world, Arrival from Sweden has performed in over twenty countries including the USA, UK, Australia, France, Holland, Sweden, Vietnam, and China.
Making the concert even more unique, Arrival From Sweden not only plays all of ABBA’s hits, they play it live with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
