As most of their audiences were undoubtedly nursing their hangovers from the Pride festivities on Sunday, eight Vancouver DJs battled it out for the title of Vancouver’s Hot Gay DJ. When the vinyl dust settled it was DJ Jeffery Michael that took home the prize.
Over the three month Hot Gay DJ contest, Michael was scored by various promoters, producers and audiences in a variety of events to ultimately score enough points to win. Michael competed against a bevy of local DJ talent including DJs Christoker, Victor Cheng, Marty Funkhauser, Riot, Kirsten C, Lisa DeLux & Marc Tattoo.
As the winner of the competition, Michael receives an international representation agreement with Mirateca Arts along with a tour. “We are excited to see such great young talent being given a chance to shine on the world club stage,” said Mirateca producer/manager Terry Costa.
Born Halloween night in 1980, Michael moved to San Francisco in 2001 to pursue his DJ ambitions. In 2009 he returned to the music scene in Vancouver with a club approach and a debut gig at Celebrities. Since then, Michael performed at multiple Vancouver 2010 Olympic events and at NYE (New Years Eve) 2010 again at Celebrities, quickly establishing himself as one of Vancouver’s finest Electro DJs.
