Forget the chocolates and the flowers. How about the gift of music this Valentine’s Day as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents some of the most romantic music ever written?
With shows on February 12th and 14th there is no excuse for giving that special someone in your life an evening out that they will not soon forget.
The evening begins with Tchaikovsky’s celebrated waltz from the ballet Sleeping Beauty. Featuring award-winning pianist Sara Davis Buechner, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 is an extraordinary work, possibly the most famous and beloved piano concerto ever written. With its grand, sweeping Romantic statement of beauty and melody it may very well be the perfect for a Valentine’s concert.
Add to that Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” with its bold, confident complexity, mixed with some memorable melodies, this Romantic composer’s work is the perfect ending to this romantic evening.
All under the baton of Grammy Award winning Maestro Bramwell Tovey, this will definitely be a night for lovers of music and the heart.
