One of Vancouver’s signature summer events, the Celebration of Light, is back for its 21st year with a twist. Winners from 2008 (China), 2009 (Canada) and Spain (2010) will return in a “Battle of the Champions” from July 30 through August 6 on English Bay.
China will kick off the battle on July 30th with China Storm, followed by Canada on August 3rd with Then and Now and finally it’s Spain’s turn on August 6th as it attempts to hold onto its title with Odyssey.
The winning country will be announced following the final show on August 6th.
Returning this year are the sale of a limited number of reserved bleacher seats. Net proceeds of these seats go to directly to the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society to help sustain the Celebration of Light for future years.
Billed as the “world’s biggest offshore fireworks competition” the Celebration of Light (formerly known as the Symphony of Fire) has been attracting crowds around Vancouver’s English Bay since it began in 1990. The event attracts more than over a million people each year over the competition nights.
