Forty-five days into 2011 and no doubt, if you are the typical Canadian, your New Year’s resolutions are already on a downward swing. For those of us with lofty plans to get fit and healthy this year, The Wellness Show might just be the motivator we need to get back on track.
The largest of its kind in Western Canada, The Wellness Show is dedicated to helping us live a more balanced and holistic lifestyle with speakers and demonstrations on a diverse range of wellness topics, all under one roof.
This year’s show includes healthy food and cooking demonstrations by a number of local chefs at the celebrity cooking stage.
Cooking stage demonstrations kick off with Alessandra Quaglia, the Dancing Chef who will not only cook up some recipes but will also be accompanied by a Salsa Dance demonstration by Mad About Salsa and CTV’s Dr. Rhonda Low. Along with authors Alison Kent (The Best Vegetarian) and Theresa Albert (Ace Your Health: 52 Ways to Stack the Deck) are Vancouver chefs Hidekazu Tojo of Tojo’s and Robert Erickson from Central Bistro who will prepare some mouth-watering recipes using local ingredients such as wild salmon and BC trout.
As a sampler as to what you might expect on the celebrity cooking stage, Chef Erickson went into his kitchen at Central Bistro in the West End to prepare a dish just for us. And, in case you are inspired, Chef Erickson also shared his recipe.
