Stephen Sondheim to speak of his life in theatre on October 27th

Stephen Sondheim who penned the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy, and composed the music and lyrics for such shows as Sweeny Todd, Into The Woods, Company, and A Little Night Music (perhaps best known for the song Send In The Clowns) will speak about his life in the theatre on Tuesday October 27th at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver.

The evening’s conversation will be moderated by Jerry Wasserman local actor, critic, theatre historian and current Head of the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of British Columbia.

Stephen SondheimSondheim is expected to include stories and anecdotes from his decades in musical theatre that will hopefully include glimpses into the inner workings of Broadway, as well as his collaborations, inspirations, and his theatrical and cinematic resume.

The evening is a presentation of APPLAUSE! Musicals Society who are also presenting three of Stephen Sondheim’s rarer musicals in concert in their 2009/2010 Season including Merrily We Roll Along which was presented in October, Passion to be presented in November, and Follies to be presented in April 2010.
