This week we witness the birth of four new plays from excited writers, search for Vancouver’s next drag superstar, and make declarations at Club PuSh.
FourPlay: New Work by Excited Writers (Feb 3-12) returns to Langara’s Studio 58 with the 11th mounting of this popular festival of one-act plays, featuring original work by Studio 58 students and recent graduates, under the tutelage of award-winning playwright Aaron Bushkowsky and directed by four of BC’s best directors. From a story of Emily Carr to a musical based on working in retail, FourPlay delves into contemporary themes with a sharp eye and fresh voice.
The Search for Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar gets underway this week with the preliminary round on February 4 and continuing each Thursday until the finale on February 25. With special guest performance and celebrity judge from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Trixie Mattel. The winner receives a trip for two with VIP access to the Official RuPaul’s Drag Race Finale Party.
As part of the 2016 PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, Club PuSh curator-in-residence Jordan Tannahill collaborates with a group of Vancouver residents making Declarations (Feb 6) of what they hold to be true.
