This week in (gay) Vancouver: scholarships, a road trip, and a fundraiser

This week we celebrate our community’s future leaders, go on a road trip with the Vancouver Men’s Chorus, and strut out stuff in a fundraiser for LGBTQ+ refugees.

The LOUD Scholarships

LOUD Business presents the 7th annual LOUD Scholarships Gala (Jun 7) honouring this year’s scholarship recipients. In this record-breaking year, ten British Columbia students will receive university scholarships recognizing their contribution to the LGBTQ community.

The Vancouver Men's Chorus presents Road Trip

The Vancouver Men’s Chorus are going on a Road Trip (Jun 10-18). Get a head start on your summer glow with the men of the Chorus as they sing and dance on down the road with classic car tunes and songs of the open road.

The Foundation of Hope presents STRUT Launch 2016 (Apr 23). The official launch of its annual fundraiser, the Foundation of Hope provides financial assistance to Canadian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) actively supporting LGBT+ refugees and immigrants. This year's entertainment includes House of La Douche, singer/songwriter Ria Jade and the LUX Dance Company in addition to the shoe-focused runway fashion show.

Walking a mile in heels isn’t easy, but living in fear of persecution for being LGBT+ is harder. The Foundation of Hope presents STRUT 2016 (Jun 11), a walk to raise funds and awareness for LGBT+ refugees. With a goal of $40,000, the funds will go towards badly needed services to assist LGBTQ people from countries where they are persecuted to come to Canada and be fully integrated into Canadian life.
