This week in (gay) Vancouver we’re all about drag as the DMS installs a new court, the VMC celebrates their inner diva, and Carlotta and Conni help you transform into a queen for the day.
The Dogwood Monarchist Society (DMS) presents Coronation XLIV: An Gathering of Nations, An Evening in Paris (Mar 14) at Celebrities Nightclub, with the installation of a new court in Vancouver. Every year, the DMS names an Imperial Empress and Emperor with an annual goal is to raise money and awareness for local charities.
Singing Can Be A Drag (Mar 14), the annual fundraiser for the Vancouver Men’s Chorus (VMC) will be hosted by Vancouver drag icon and VMC life-member, Bill Monroe. The evening of live-singing and female-impersonators is performed by the group’s own inner-diva starlets. The VMC promises “more evening-length glamour, more vocal-feats, higher kicks and more synthetic hair than seen at your cousin’s wedding”.
The Junction Pub is the place to be for Is He or Isn’t She (Mar 15), with your opportunity to become a drag queen for a day. Carlotta Gurl and Conni Smudge not only host, they will also help in the transformation.
