Human rights, a fundraiser and the bears celebrate five years in our pick of things to do this week in (gay) Vancouver.
Amnesty International plays host to an international panel of experts in a discussion on marriage, reproduction and sexual health in It’s your body, know your rights! (Oct 5). Led by Dr. Guillermo Antonio Ortiz Avendaño from El Salvador, who challenged Salvadorian abortion laws and Jessica St. Jean of YouthCO’s Indigenous led peer-education program, the evening’s conversation will help learn more about these rights, how they are threatened at home and around the world, and what you can do to take a stand.
Vancity and Legacy Liquor Store presents the 2015 edition of Stack the Rack (Oct 7), a fundraiser for QMUNITY, BC’s Queer Resource Centre. Only a few tickets remain for this annual event with an opportunity to taste a variety of wines while nibbling on appetizers from the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s chef, all while doing some good.
Berracuda (Oct 11) returns to Vancouver for its fifth anniversary party. Featuring DJs Paul Goodyear (Sydney) and Del Stamp (Vancouver), the evening also features a live nude shower show which is entirely fitting given its new location at The Odyssey.
