This week in (gay) Vancouver: it’s all about Pride, baby!

With the 2014 Vancouver Pride season getting underway, our picks will come as no surprise as we feature some of the official events happening around the city this week.

The Vancouver Pride Society, QMUNITY Generations, 411 Seniors Centre, West End Seniors Network and the Haro Park Centre are once again coming together to host the annual Aging with Pride (Jul 24), a space for queer seniors and their allies to celebrate. Admission is by donation and the afternoon event will include light snacks, a cash bar and door prizes for the most glamorous outfit.

LOUD Business and the Vancouver Pride Society host a lunchtime reception in honour of the 2014 PRIDE Legacy Award recipients at the Loud Legacy Lunch (Jul 25)

Vancouver Frontrunners are hosts to the annual Pride Run & Walk (Jul 26) around the Stanley Park seawall.  This year’s courses feature both 5K and 10K routes.

Directly following the Pride Run & Walk is the annual Picnic in the Park (Jul 26) at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park. An afternoon filled with family-friendly games including the (in)famous drag race, food and even a beer garden. Fun for the whole family!

Support Pride in Sports as the Vancouver Whitecaps take on Dallas at the second annual Pride With the Whitecaps (Jul 27) game.  Pick-up your own special edition Whitecaps FC pride scarf and cheer on the hometown team!
