A few parties and something to help you recover are our main picks for this week in (gay) Vancouver.
The bears are back in town, the bears are back in town! Bearracuda, Vancouver’s popular party for bears and their admirers, returns to Club 560 on Sunday, February 9 with DJ Paul Goodyear (Sydney) in the main room and DJ Jay Douglas in the basement. And if you need to ask what a bear is you’re probably not the target market.
And one for the ladies on the same night … Hershe Bar hosts Clubskirts The Dinah Party in Vancouver on February 9, 2014. Featuring LA mixtress DJ Amara the party is also your only opportunity to win tickets to The Dinah Party in Palm Springs in April.
With all that partying going on you’ll definitely want to head to the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre for the 2014 Wellness Show which gets underway on Valentine’s Day. The show includes includes exhibitors, speakers and demonstrations on a diverse range of health and wellness topics, such as nutrition, exercise, beauty, healthy aging, alternative and holistic therapies, mental well-being, healthy kids and pets, and green living, all under one roof.
Here are a couple of other events we’re also excited about this week:
- The Fugue Fugue (Feb 14-16) – Award winning writer/performer and Fringe Festival legend TJ Dawe weaves a compelling new multimedia show out of fragments from acclaimed cultural innovators like composer J.S. Bach, comic book writer Alan Moore, and television creator J.J. Abrams to answer a few questions: How smart are we as a culture? How much can your brain juggle? Are we getting smarter or dumber?
- Art (through Feb 22) – It means a couple of bridges but this may very well be the excuse you need for a trip to Richmond. This Tony Award winning black comedy just may very have you questioning your own friendships.
