When the Passion for the Olympic Games Transcends the Sporting Arena

The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch wasn’t the only centre of attention when unveiled in Whistler, British Columbia (BC) on February 12, 2009. Chris Wray was in the crowd holding one of the few remaining torches from the Berlin 1936 Olympic Games.

The torch from the 1936 Games is among the few pieces of memorabilia related to previous Olympic Games that Wray has been collecting for the past 15 years. These include original posters from the London 1948 Olympic Games and the Calgary 1988 Olympic Winter Games. His collection also includes tapestry celebrating the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games as well as a commemorative mug from the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
