The annual East Side Pride, which coincides with the anniversary weekend of the Stonewall Riots, moves to McSpadden Park on Victoria Drive this Saturday, June 25, 2011.
Recognizing Pride isn’t just about Vancouver’s West End community, East Side Pride is a celebration with a definite neighbourly feel.
The free event includes a village of booths featuring local artisans and community groups plus mainstage performances hosted by Conni Smudge and joined this year by East Van’s own Isolde N. Barron.
“As the Queen of East Van we are thrilled to be included in East Side Pride and look forward to seeing all the beautiful faces of our people beaming up at us!”, said Isolde N. Barron.
A family-friendly event, this year’s East Side Pride will also feature a special children’s area. Performers scheduled to appear include a host of top female talent including Alberta’s Backyard Betties in their Vancouver premiere, Black Parade Kings, Liv Wade, Megan Podwin, Neptune at Night, Norine Braun and the women of Vancouver’s queer improv group, The Bobbers. DJs Joi-Zee and T will provide the tunes.
