The Vancouver Pride Society announced today that Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, will once again march in the 38th Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday, July 31.

According to a Pride Pride Society press release, this will mark the first time a sitting Prime Minister will take part in the local Pride festivities. Trudeau will also march in the Toronto Pride parade on July 3, becoming the first sitting Prime Minister to do so in that city as well.

This will be Trudeau’s third appearance at the Vancouver Pride parade having marched previously in 2014 and then again in 2015 (photo above). Trudeau’s 2015 appearance came just as the writ for that year’s federal election was dropped.

“We are excited to once again have the opportunity to welcome Prime Minister Trudeau to our beautiful city and fabulous parade,” say organizers in the release. “Together, with the recent tragedy in Orlando still fresh in our thoughts, we will march in solidarity and continue to show we are Better Together”.

The 2016 Vancouver Pride parade takes place on Sunday, July 31. Visit http://vancouverpride.ca for more information or check out our own Guide to Vancouver Pride for more details on this and other Pride events.
